Fishing Reports

The weather might have been nasty the last few days offshore, and was not pretty on the way out today, but the fishing offshore is still doing GREAT!  The two boats that made it out offshore today ended up being rewarded with nice catches of yellowfin tuna and dolphin.  The Game Over came back with 8 yellowfin and 3 dolphin, while the Foolish Pleasure had 7 yellowfin and 3 dolphin!  As the wind dies out this week and the weather warms up some mid week, we expect that fishing will only continue to get better offshore!

 

Inshore fishing has been a bit slower this weekend with the temperature drop and NE winds gusting, but aboard the Bay Bee today they did catch several throwbacks on both the morning and afternoon trips.  The Get Sum reports catching 1 keeper on their am trip and 2 keepers on their pm trip with several throwbacks on both trips.  They also hooked into some trout and rockfish throwbacks as well!  Like for the offshore fishing forecast, we hope to see more keepers coming back to the docks as the weather begins to warm up and the wind die down this week!

 

Today also saw the conclusion of the 32nd annual Shark Tournament.  The release category seemed to be the most popular this year, with only bluefish being weighed in at the docks today.  As of 6 pm, there were three bluefish weighed in with weights of 1.5 lbs, 0.9 lbs, and 0.8 lbs.  Official results and payouts will be announced this evening at the awards banquet and posted on their website ( www.ocsharktournament.com ).

Yesterday in the ace of strong winds, one boat ventured out to fish the OC shark tournament. The "No Shock Top" reported 2 releases and returned with a few species of sharks, such Duksy and Sandbar. The "Get Sum" with Captain Nick Clemente had a very successful evening trip returning with happy customers and a report of bluefish and shad. The "Bay Bee" with Captain Mikey Walsh also took both of his trips today and reported a few keeper flounder as well as throwbacks throughout both trips. Overall the fishing has been great, if this wind would just stop blowing we could start fishing again.  

Today we only had one boat offshore, but fishing continued to be red hot with both good sizes and numbers showing back up at the dock.  The Moore Bills reported good fishing and brought back 7 yellowfins today with an overall weight of 261 pounds!

 

In addition to good offshore fishing, the inshore fishing is beginning to pick up on the Bay Bee with more small Flounder being caught and more often.  There are some keepers ( >17'') that are beginning to be scattered in the catches as well this week. 

 

As we approach the weekend we are gearing up here at the Ocean City Fishing Center for the 32nd Annual Shark Tournament.  The tournament runs Thursday through Saturday, with weigh ins beginning at 3:30 each day.  There will be a special set up area just for kids to allow for an up close experience (both educational and interesting!) during weigh ins of the different shark species.  It is an event that is sure to be entertaining for the whole family!  For more information or last minute updates on the tournament please check their website at www.ocsharktournament.com

 

 

While only a few boats left the marina this morning in search for the fish, almost all were successful.  On the "Moore Bills" Captain Rob Skillman returned with 11 yellow fin to earn high hook for the day. Congrats goes to Sarah Nagey from the store who managed to snag a nice 40lb yellow fin on that trip today. The "Foolish Pleasures" with Captain Dale Lisi had a phenomenal day returning with 8 yellow fin, and a big gaffer dolphin. Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" reported shark releases all throughout the day. Aboard the "Morning Star" with Captain Monty Hawkins Sea bass fishing was great as usual. The "Get Sum" with Captain Nick Clemente also had a fantastic day with a total of 6 keepers, and plenty of throwbacks between his two trips. Our bay fishing head-boat the "Bay Bee" captained by Captain Mikey Walsh also had a keeper flounder and enough throwback flounder to go around. Fishing is continuing to get better as the summer goes on! While not all of the boats in the fleet left the marina this morning those that did had a great deal of success. Captain Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" had a fantastic day today, and earned the title of high hook, returning with a total of 14 yellow fin tuna. The "Game On" returned from a overnighter this morning with 12 yellow fin tuna for a total stringer weight of 430 pounds, the crew also reported releasing a thresher shark early in the morning. Aboard the "Playmate" Captain Jermey Shandrowski returned from a full day offshore with 8 yellow fin tuna. Captain Dale Lisi on the "Foolish Pleasures" never disappoints and returned with fish today. Flounder fishing really picked up these past two days. Captain Nick Clemente on the bay charter "Get Sum" had a phenomenal day with a total of 17 keepers and plenty of throwbacks between his two trips. One of the the trips yielded a 4.7 pound flounder which holds the new leader-board position. Yesterday was a busy day at the Fishing Center! A majority of the boats in our fleet as well as a good number of private boats left the marina this morning in pursuit of fish. Most were very successful in this endeavor. High hook for the day yesterday went to Captain Steve Pfeiffer on the "Game Over" who returned to the docks with 9 yellow fin tuna. On a shark trip on the "Blue Runner" Captain Steve Reddish released a variety of sharks including a mako, and a blue shark. Captain Mark Sampson had a similar day on the "Fish Finder" releasing a tiger shark, a dusky and 2 sandbars. Captain Franky Petollina on the "Last Call" also released a variety of sharks throughout his trip this afternoon. Tuna were seen in good numbers on the "Samurai I" with Captain Jermey Blunt who returned with 4 large yellow fin. On the private boat the "Wave Dancer" Captain Gary Sappington returned to the docks with 3 yellow fin tuna. Aboard the "Got Fish II", Tim Talbot had a good afternoon returning with a mako and 6 yellow fin tuna. An important day was had on the "Tuna Dog" with Captain Aric Gilley who returned to the docks with 4 yellow fin, and his wife Donna's first tuna ever! Congratulations to Ms. Gilley and her catch. On the private boat the "Out rea geous" Captain Rea Roy returned with a 104 pound mako and a good sized yellow fin tuna. We also had the first big eye tuna of the season brought to the docks this evening by a private boat, and it was fairly large. Inshore wreck and reef fishing on the "Morning Star" with Captain Monty Hawkins has been doing well! Captain Monty has been consistently reporting good numbers of sea bass and some flounder. It seems the flounder have finally made their way back into the bay today. Captain Nick Clemente on the private bay fishing charter the "Get Sum" had 4 keeper flounder this morning trip, and his afternoon trip followed in suit. The "Bay Bee" with Captain Mikey Walsh also had a successful day on the bay with a total of 4 keepers and an abundance of throwbacks between his two trips. The weather was beautiful both offshore and inshore today and the fish were biting. Only nine boats left the marina this morning and all were successful in their endeavors. High hook for the day goes to Captain Rob Skillman on the "Moore Bills" who returned to the docks with 7 yellow fin tuna. Aboard the "Tighten Up" with Captain Jason Genthner had a great day returning with 5 yellow fin tuna. Captain Wade Lober on the "Why Not" also returned to the docks with some tuna today. Not to be neglected our private boats had a fantastic day fishing as well. The "Recon" on A dock with Captain Ed Barker crushed the tuna today. The "Lunasea" also had a phenomenal day returning with 7 yellow fin. More tuna were seen aboard the "Defiant" off of A dock. Inshore fishing has also been producing large numbers of good fish. Captain Monty Hawkins on the inshore wreck and reef head-boat the "Morning Star" has been returning from all of his trips reporting good numbers of black sea bass, and even some keeper flounder! Captain Nick Clemente on the private bay fishing boat the "Get Sum" also had a good day in the bay today with 1 keeper flounder and enough throwbacks to satisfy customers. On his afternoon trip Captain Nick managed to snag some trout which are an elusive catch in the area. Congratulations to Captain Nick! Today was a great a day of fishing both inshore and offshore. First we would like to congratulate Alex Grapes on the "Binnacle" boat for stealing the leader board position for a 11.9 pound bluefish that was found among the 16 others they brought back to the docks today. The "Playmate" with Captain Jeremy Shandrowski reported releasing 3 mako sharks today as well as a few tiger sharks. Aboard the "Moore Bills" Captain Rob Skillman returned to the docks with 2 nice sized yellow fin. Captain Rob also reported released a blue shark and 2 other tunas. On The "All In" Captain Chad Meeks returned with a 109 pound mako, 11 yellow fin and 1 gaffer dolphin today. High hook goes to a private boat the "Lady J" that was captained  by our very own Captain Jeremy Blunt off of the "Samurai."   The crew returned with 15 yellow fin tuna all of substantial size. On the charter boat the "Reel Addiction"  with Captain Greg Ignash returned with 13 yellow fin and 7 dolphin from their full day offshore. More yellow fin were seen on the "Wave Dancer" with Captain Gary Sappington had 5 yellow fin with a stringer of 270 pounds.  On another private boat the "Jet Lag" reported releasing some sharks and returned with a mako. Captain Darin Roe on the private boat the "Wayne's World" reported releasing some makos, tiger, and dusky sharks today. While fishing inshore at the wrecks and reefs Captain Monty Hawkins on the "Morning Star" managed to snag some really nice sized sea bass, and a good number of them too. Congrats guys! On of our private boats the "Waynes World" who went shark fishing today released a mako, and a tiger shark as well as seeing a few other species throughout the day. Shark master himself Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" also had a good day of shark fishing releasing 2 dusky sharks and a mako. Finally inshore fishing has been great. Captain Monty Hawkins on the "Morning Star" returned with coolers full of sea bass, nearly limiting out everyone on the boat. A few flounder were also seen throughout the day as well. The "Reel Addiction" with Captain Greg Ignash returned from an overnighter mid morning today with a box full of fish. The crew managed to hang 7 yellow fin tuna, the heaviest weighing in at 43 pounds, 9 dolphin the heaviest at 18 pounds and a mako. Memorial day weekend has brought plenty of anglers, as well as fish to the area. Today Captain Rob Skillman on the "Moore Bills" had 4 yellowfin tuna, and 12 decent sized dolphin. Aboard the "Foolish Pleasures" Captain Dale Lisi had a good day with 3 yellowfin and 3 gaffer dolphin. On their first trip of the season, after returning on Friday to the Fishing Center, Captain Jermey Shandrowski on the "Playmate" led his crew to 2 yellowfin, and some dolphin today. Captain Dan on the "Game On" also had a successful day at the canyons returning to the docks with 2 yellow fin tuna. On of our private boats had a fantastic day today as well, the "Wrangler" returned from a full day offshore with 3 yellowfin, 12 good sized dolphin and a small mako. The "Muff Diver" from another marina in Ocean City came to the Fishing Center docks today to weigh in a mako, and some tuna. The mako weighed in at 256 pounds. Bay fishing has also been picking up recently as well. Captain Nick Clemente on the private bay charter the "Get Sum" reported 2 keeper flounder, and some throwbacks. As the memorial day weekend came to a close, the fishing did not slow down. Today on one of our private boats the "Magnum" Tim Apollo manged to wrangle a 253 pound thresher. More sharks were seen on the "Fish Finder" today with Captain Mark Sampson who released 5 blue sharks, and a mako, and returned to the docks with some nice sized blue fish. Captain Dale Lisi aboard the "Foolish Pleasures" took high hook today with 3 yellow fin tuna, some dolphin and a 30 pound wahoo. Another one of our private boats the "Got Fish II" also returned to the docks with dolphin and tuna today. Aboard the inshore wreck and reef trip Captain Monty Hawkins satisfied all his customers with sea bass and nearly limited out yet again! Recent offshore and inshore forecasts have predicted nothing but heavy winds, and rain which is an unfortunate thing for our fisherman and our anglers, however the past two days the weather has let up and is allowing us to fish! Yesterday aboard the "Morning Star" Captain Monty Hawkins had nothing but good fishing to report, nearly limiting out all passengers on Sea Bass and a lucky few managed to snag some flounders. Today he reports "sea bass fishing was excellent." Yesterday Captain Mark Radcliffe on the "Fish Bonz"  had a fantastic day sea bass fishing at the wrecks and returned with cart fulls of sea bass. The past two days on the bay fishing headboat the "Bay Bee" with Captain Mikey Walsh have been full of throwbacks, and there are just a few more open seats left for memorial day weekend! Captain Mark Sampson had a successful first day of the season returning to the docks with a 117 mako, and releasing several other blue sharks. The "Game On" also returned from a wreck fish late afternoon today with a good amount of sea bass for their customers. While no one ventured offshore with the tropical storm inching up the coast line, our inshore wreck and reef headboat the "Morning Star" took its first sea bass trip of the season, and the wait proved to be well worth it. Captain Monty Hawkins returned to the docks nearly limiting out every person on the boat with sea bass and reporting some throwback flounder. Despite the wind the bay head boat the "Bay Bee" took two trips. Captain Mikey Walsh reported a 22 inch keeper on his morning trip, and throwbacks between the two. On the private bay boat the "Get Sum" Captain Nick Clemente lead his crew to the bluefish throughout the day. With the tropical storm predicted to skirt the coast, we hope to have more to report after it passes, in time for memorial day!

Cruisers weekend is upon us yet again, which typically marks the beginning of summer for most, as well as the suite of "oldies but goodies", this can also be said of the fish. As the school your begins to wind down, the fishing starts to heat up! Yesterday aboard the "Foolish Pleasures" Captain Dale Lisi returned to the docks with 8 substantial sized yellowfin tuna! This is fairly early for these fish and we are excited to see them on the docks so soon. Bay fishing has been great too. Captain Nick Clemente on the private charter the "Get Sum" had an awesome morning trip today with 3 keeper flounder all around 19 inches, and a bunch of throwbacks. Happy Cinco de Mayo! Even in the heavy fog that surrounded Ocean City the fish were still biting! Captain Mikey Walsh on the "Bay Bee" returned from his morning trip reporting a few throwback flounders. On a half day inshore trip with Captain Steve Reddish on the "Blue Runner" anglers were satisfied with a few small species of sharks and a good number of black sea bass.  To conclude our day the private boat the "Out-Rea-Geous" returned to the docks to weigh in a 197 pound mako shark. Angler Anthony Cichocki reported fighting the shark for about 10-15 minutes. On the "Foolish Pleasures" Captain Dale Lisi released 15 blue sharks, and just missed a 300 pound mako shark after a long fight. Now that Katia has come and gone the fisherman were excited to get back to the canyons today. The "Game Over" with Captain Steve Pfeiffer had an exceptional day with 3 white marlin and 3 dolphin. Venturing far out today was the "Jade II" with Captain Ed Kaufman. The long trip was well worth it, the crew returned home with a total of 41 dolphin of varying sizes. Captain Dale Lisi aboard the "Foolish Pleasures" had a similar day with 20 dolphin. The "Tighten Up" with Captain Jason Genthner had a good day today with 2 white releases and 5 decent sized dolphin. High hook for the day goes to Captain Rob Skillman on the "Moore Bills" who released 6 white marlin. These marlin place the "Moore Bills" as the current top gun boat in the marina. Finally the "Fish Bonz" with Captain Mark Radcliffe released 2 white marlin and returned home with happy customers. The "Bay Bee" with Captain Bob Gowar and the "Get Sum" with Captain Nick Clemente have been catching large numbers of flounder.  Tomorrow is the 11th annual September 11th Overall the fishing is really begining to pick up, so give your kids a break from school and take them fishing with Ocean City's Premier Charter fleet! This morning engines were roaring bright in early as a majority of our fleet was leaving in search of marlin, tuna, and dolphin. Captain Willie Zimmerman aboard the "Game On" released a white marlin which was accompanied by some dolphin. This last marlin puts Captain Willie in  the number one spot for marlin releases with a total of 25. More marlin more released aboard the "Tighten Up" with Captain Jason Genthner who led his all women crew to 2 marlin. Aboard the "Why Not" Captain Wade Lober released a blue marlin. While scouting for the tournament Captain Mike Conner on the "Bill$ 4 Bills" returned home with 3 substantial sized dolphin in the box. High hook for the day goes to Captain Steve Pfeiffer at the helm of the "Game Over." The boat returned from a full day of fishing with 2 white marlin releases, a tuna, and an 11 pound dolphin.  The "Cah Ching" with Captain Steve Martin also released 2 whites today out at the canyons.  One of our private boats the "About Time" with Captain Scott Marsden released a white marlin today. It was a special trip for all as everyone in the family took part in the release! Congrats! Bay fishing is also beginning to really pick up. On the "Bay Bee" with Captain Bob Gowar a great day of fishing was had by all. The morning trip had over 90 throwbacks, and the afternoon trip had 2 keepers and 180-200 throwbacks.  On the charter boat "Get Sum" Captain Nick Clemente had a 21 inch keeper on his morning trip and a multitude of throwbacks accompanied by crabs, and clams, his evening trip had a similar results. Engines were roaring at 4:30 this morning all but 7 of our charter fleet fished today. A majority of our boats went to either the Washington canyon or the Baltimore canyon today in their quest for fish. Captain Ron Taylor on the "Playtime" returned home with 2 decent sized dolphin and reported releasing two white marlins. The "Tail to Tale" with Captain Joel Wadkins had a good day returning home with some tuna and some dolphin. At the Baltimore canyon Captain Mark Radcliffe on the "Fish Bonz" found 2 yellow fin tuna that weighed approximately 50 pounds each. The tuna were accompained by a white marlin release. White marlin were the popular species on the "All In" today. Captain Chad Meeks released a total of 4 marlin through out the day at the Baltimore. Another boat that fished at the Baltimore today was the "Why Not" with Captain Wade Lober. Captain Wade released 1 white marlin and returned home with 4 yellow fin and a gaffer dolphin. Aboard the "Tighten Up" Captain Jason Genthner and his crew returned home with 3 substantial sized yellow fin and released a white marlin. The white marlin was released by our very own Kathy Genthner, congrats to Kathy! A gaffer dolphin was found while trolling on the canyons on the "Game Over" today with Captain Steve Pfeiffer. High hook for the day goes to the "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman. His catch consisted of a 208 pound big eye, 4 large yellow fin, and a white marlin release. Check the website tomorrow for pictures of the big eye!  The "Samurai I" with Captain Jeremy Blunt had 2 yellow fin tuna and a dolphin today. The "Playmate" with Captain Jeremy Shandrowski also fished the Baltimore today and had success with yellow fin tuna. Captain Dale Lisi on the "Foolish Pleasures" returned home with 4 yellow fin all of which were estimated around 60 pounds, and a white marlin release. The bay fishing headboat the "Bay Bee" had all throwbacks today but enough to keep everyone busy and satisfied, the count was well over 100. On the charter boat "Get Sum" Captain Nick Clemente led his crew to 3 keeper flounder, a good number of throwbacks, and some crabs today between his three trips. Overall fishing is great! As we get another day closer to the beginning of the 38th Annual White Marlin Open captains are preparing and continuing to fish. Today the "Fish Bonz"  with Captain Mark Radcliffe headed to the Washington canyon. While there the crew released a white marlin and returned home with a 45 pound yellow fin. Captain Chad Meeks on the "All In" also ventured out to the Washington yesterday and had a similar afternoon. His report consisted of 2 white marlin releases and a yellow fin tuna around 47 pounds. High hook for the day goes to Captain Dale Lisi on the "Foolish Pleasures who fished at the Washington as well. He returned home with 3 yellow fin tuna and a gaffer dolphin. The "Moore Bills"  with Captain Rob Skillman, who is the current top gun at the marina continues to defend his title. Captain Rob returned home reporting 2 white marlin releases and brought back a decent sized yellow fin.  One of our private boats "Fugitive" with Captain Wayne Lauman had an exceptional day at the Baltimore canyon today, returning home with a white marlin release 3 substantial sized yellow fin and a gaffer dolphin.  Inshore fishing is doing well and Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" released about 5 sharks of varying species.  In the bay the name of the game are throwback flounder. Throwbacks are a great deal of fun and will keep you plenty busy! The elusive keeper flounder has been found over the past few days today was no different. On the "Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar had 2 keepers and well over 100 throwbacks between his two trips. Preparations begin for the 38th Annual White Marlin Open. The tournament begins this coming Monday and is expected to be a good one. In the mean time Captains have been continuing to fish the canyons and are having luck. On the "Foolish Pleasures" Captain Dale Lisi returned to the docks with a decent sized yellow fin tuna and 2 nice gaffer dolphin. A similar day was had on the "Game Over" with Captain Steve Pfeffier. The crew came home with a 52 pound yellow fin and 3 dolphin in the box, as well as releasing an additional 3 tuna. The "Jade II" was found fishing at the Hot Dog yesterday and managed to wrangle a nice sized wahoo. Captain Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" had a good day of fishing returning home with 4 nice sized dolphin and substantial sized yellow fin tuna.  High hook for the day goes to Captain Chad Meeks on the "All In." Captain Chad returned home with 2 60 pound yellow fin tuna, a gaffer dolphin and a white marlin release. Bay fishing is also doing well. The "Bay Bee" with Captain Bob Gowar had a total of 3 keepers today and over 100 throwback between his two trips. While the weather in Ocean City was less than desirable the fishing and offshore conditions were the opposite. On the "Last Call" Captain Franky Pettolina returned home with 3 gaffer dolphin in the box and a decent sized yellow fin. The dolphin ranged in size from about 12- 15 pounds.  Captain Dale Lisi caught a variety of fish today on the "Foolish Pleasures." He returned to the docks with a wahoo, a couple yellow fin, and a gaffer dolphin. Bay fishing has improved slightly. The "Bay Bee" captained by Captain Bob Gowar had 2 keepers and over 100 throwbacks between his two trips today. The charter boat "Get Sum" with Captain Nick Clemente had similar results. Captain Nick had 2 keepers and a good deal of throwbacks between his two trips. The keeper flounder were also accompanied by some crabs and clams. Overall fishing has been great! The weather is great, the fishing is even better the only thing missing from the equation are anglers! Before the sun even rose, the engines were roaring at the Ocean City Fishing Center. A good number of boats left this morning in search of a variety of species of fish.  Offshore the tuna bite was decent today. The "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman returned home with a substantial sized yellow fin tuna and 2 white marlin releases. Captain Rob Skillman currently holds the position for most white releases for the season. The "Samurai" Captained by Captain Jeremy Blunt spent the day at the Washington canyon and had some luck with the yellow fin tuna. After an overnighter Captain Chad Meeks brought the "All In" back to the docks with an abundance of fish. During their trip they caught 9 yellow fin tuna and released a white marlin, and a blue marlin. The stringer weight on the tuna was a total of 412 pounds. Congrats goes to Curtis Macomber who released his first blue marlin during the trip.  Marlin were a popular fish on the "Why Not" with Captain Wade Lober. The crew released a total of 3 white marlin and returned home with a 288 pound blue marlin; the fish would have been released but unfortunately passed during the fight. High hook for the day goes to Captain Jason Norton on the "Ranger" who crushed the yellow fin. Captain Jason Norton returned home with 7 yellow fin that had a combined weight of 320 pounds. The "Playtime" with Captain Ron Taylor returned to the docks with one gaffer dolphin. The "Playmate" with Captain Jeremy Shandrowski had yet to returned prior to the publication of our report. We will update the report tomorrow. One of our private boats also had some luck with tuna today. The "Tuna Dog" with Captain Aric Gilley returned home with 2 nice sized yellow fin.  Another one of our private boats the "Lady J" had a fantastic day with golden tilefish. They had about 6 or 7 golden tilfish which were caught at the canyons while trolling for marlin. The heaviest tilefish weighed 51 pounds and is the current leader on the leaderboard for that species. Congrats goes to Sofia Alonso-Drouyn on her catch. Check back tomorrow for picture of the blue marlin and the tile fish! Bay fishing is still holding steady. While some days the flounder decide to be picky about their meals today was not one of those days. Captain Bob Gowar lead his crew to 2 keeper flounder and an estimated 150 throwbacks in the morning on the "Bay Bee." On the afternoon trip there was 1 keeper flounder and 30 throwbacks along with 1 keeper trigger fish. On the charter boat "Get Sum" Captain Nick Clemente reports a multitude of throwbacks, along with some crabs and clams. Overall fishing has been great! Sorry for the delay but we've been so busy counting fish and fueling that the fishing report just had to wait! Today the "Fish Bonz" with Captain Mark Radcliffe  had a good day today releasing one white marlin and bringing home 2 nice sized yellow fin. Each yellow fin averaged about 50 pounds each. Another white marlin was released on the "Why Not" with Captain Wade Lober, who was fishing at the 40 fathom line when he came across the billfish. Captain Ed Kaufman on the Jade II had a white release and 2 yellow fin, the fish averaged about 40 pounds a piece. A blue marlin was released on the "Playtime" today with Captain Ron Taylor. The fish was accompanied by 3 nice sized gaffer dolphin. High hook for the day goes to the "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman. Captain Rob returned home with 7 fish in the box each averaging between 40 to 50 pounds. The "Playmate" with Captain Jeremy Shandrowski also had a good day with the tuna. The crew returned home with 3 very large yellow fin each averaging 40- 50 pounds. The "Bay Bee" had an extraordinary day of flounder fishing. Between two trips there were two keepers caught and over 200 throwbacks. Overall fishing gets better and better by the day! The fish were present in the waters off the coast of Ocean City today. On the "Fish Bonz" Captain Mark Radcliffe returned home with 2 yellow fin tuna. The fish averaged 50 pounds each. "Ranger" with Captain Jason Norton had yet to return home before the fishing report was posted. We will have an update tomorrow! The "Morning Star" with Captain Monty Hawkins has been averaging 7 keeper sea bass per person. They had some difficulty with the flounder today, plenty of throwbacks but no keepers. Flounder seem to be giving everyone a rough time today. Captain Nick Clemente on the charter boat "Get Sum" reports large throwbacks just not quite keeper size. During his morning and afternoon trips Captain Nick also returned home with an abundance of crabs and clams.  The bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" with Captain Bob Gowar also had a large number of throwbacks between his two trips. Today was a good day for bill fish a majority of the boats that fished today returned home reporting bill fish releases. On the "Playtime" Captain Ron Taylor reported releasing a sailfish and returning home with two decent sized yellow fin after a day of chunking at the Hot Dog. After a spectacular overnighter Captain Mark Radcliffe on the "Fish Bonz" with fishing again today and crushed the dolphin, there was a total of 18 dolphin of varying sizes in the fish box upon their arrival. More dolphin were found on the "Last Call" with Captain Franky Pettolina, the dolphin were all gaffer size. Captain Jeremy Blunt on the "Samurai" took high hook today releasing a blue marlin, a white marlin, and returning home with 3 substantial sized yellow fin. On the "Ranger" with Captain Jason Norton customers saw a yellow fin tuna and a dolphin. During the day the "Ranger" also released a white marlin. As usual Captain Dale Lisi on the "Foolish Pleasures" just missed the publishing of the report but gave us a call to let us know that he caught to nice looking yellow fin tuna. On the "Morning Star" with Captain Monty Hawkins there was 14 keeper flounder caught among a good deal of throwbacks, and sea bass. Bay fishing is also doing well Captain Nick Clemente on the charter boat "Get Sum" reports a very large number of throwbacks. On the bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar saw 1 keeper flounder and 120 throwbacks in the morning, and in the afternoon had 157 throwbacks. After the long and busy weekend everyone is still recovering, not some of our captains, they were fishing the day after the tournament. Captain Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" returned home yesterday with 4 substantial sized yellow fin.  Over the next few days, the offshore forecast is calling for some heavy winds. Some of our captains took advantage of the nice weather early. Captain Mark Radcliffe on the "Fish Bonz" returned today from an overnighter with a 128 pound mako and several large yellow fin tuna that combined weighed  295 pounds! On the "Samurai I" Captain Jeremy Blunt released a white marlin, 2 yellow fin and returned home with a few nice sized dolphin.  Fishing is great right now and the weather will pass by tomorrow so be sure to book your trip with Ocean City's Premier Charter fleet today! Today all but 4 of the boats in our charter fleet fished, and all of them returned to the docks with fish in the box! On the "Cah Ching" with Captain Steve Martin the crew released a blue marlin and returned to the docks with 2 yellow fin tuna that weighed an average of 45 pounds. On the "Playtime" another blue marlin was released which was accompanied by 2 nice sized dolphin. Yet another blue marlin was released on the "Fish Bonz" with Captain Mark Radcliffe who estimated the fish to be about 500 pounds, through out the course of the afternoon he also managed to put a 20 pound dolphin into the fish box.  It was another average day on the "Last Call" wtih Captain Franky Pettolina who also released a white marina and brought a yellow fin tuna back to the docks that weighed approxi ately 50 pounds. A white marlin was also released on the "Why Not" with  Captain Wade Lober today and was accompanied by some yellow fin tuna. The most white's released today was on the "Game On" with Captain Willie Zimmerman who released 3 whites and returned home with 4 substantial sized yellow fin tuna. Captain Steve Pfeiffer on the "Game Over" caught a variety of fish today releasing a blue marlin a white marlin and bringing home a yellow fin tuna estimated to weigh around 35 pounds. On the "Samurai" 2 yellow fin tuna were very unlucky. Captain Jeremy Blunt estimated the weight of the tunas to both be around 50 pounds. 3 yellow fin tuna ranging from 30-50 pounds were caught on the "Playmate" today with Captain Jeremy Shandrowski. Captain jason norton on the "Ranger" had a good deal of success today bringing home 24 dolphin of varying sizes, and 3 yellow fin the heaviest weighing in at 77 pounds. Yet another white marlin was released this afternoon on the "Bill$ 4 Bills" with Captain Mike Conner, the crew also brought home 3 decent sized dolphin. Finally on the "Foolish Pleasures" Captain Dale Lisi returned home at a reasonable hour yet again to report 4 yellow fin each averaging about 60 pounds. Some of our Captains were too busy cleaning fish and their boats to give us a catch report. Tomorrow is the final day for the 24th Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament. Today was the first day of the 24th Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament and it was a beautiful day! We had a total of 87 boats entered to fish the tournament and 64 fished toady! A majority of our fleet is fishing in the tournament, so be on the look out for their names on the leader board!  On the "Tighten Up" with Captain Jason Genthner it was a bittersweet day. The crew managed to land a large big eye that weighed 208 pounds, and when added to their stringer created a total stringer weight of 359 pounds. The fish, however, did not qualify for the tournament due to a limited amount of time from landing the fish and making the 7:30 scale. Another bittersweet day was had on the "Samurai I" with Captain Jeremy Blunt who saw "the fish" of the day and was 70 feet away from the boat that caught the current 1st place fish. However, Captain Jeremy returned home with 2 substantial sized yellow fin tuna. Captain Franky Pettolina on the "Last Call" ran into some yellow fin today releasing 2 and killing 1 which was also accompanied by a white marlin release. The "Moore Bills also had a good day with 2 yellow fin one weighing 65 pounds and the other weighing 21 pounds, the fish were accompanied by another 5 yellow fin who were lucky enough to swim away. On the "Why Not" Captain Wade Lober released 7 yellow fin and killed 2 of substantial size. On a rare occasion Captain Dale Lisi returned home at a reasonable hour to reported 4 yellow fin which were accompanied by 2 other yellow fin releases and a white marlin release. The "Bay Bee" with Captain Mikey Walsh had a great morning trip with 2 keepers and over 100 throwbacks, his evening trip saw 60 throwbacks. As the final preparations are being made for the 24th Annual Tuna Tournament captain's continue to fish until the day of the tournament. 8 unlucky yellow fin made the ride back from the Hot Dog in Captain Jason Norton's fish box on the "Ranger,"  the yellow fin were anywhere from 30- 45 pounds. Another one of our boats the "Playmate" with Captain Chad Meeks went to the Hot Dog as well and had similar luck returning home with 9 yellow fin tuna to slide on the dock all of varying sizes. The stringer for the tuna was 201 pounds. Captain Franky Pettolina on the "Last Call" returned home with 3 decent sized yellow fin averaging about 40 pounds, 3 gaffer dolphin, a bonita and he released a mako! Aboard the "Why Not" with Captain Wade Lober 4 yellow fin tuna were caught however one was released. By far the best catch of the day went to the "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman who returned home is a 121 pound blue fin tuna, another smaller blue fin, a yellow fin, and a gaffer dolphin. The big blue fin was caught by Micky Fin's very on Gary Beach, congrats go to Gary and the "Moore Bills."  On the bay fishing head-boat the "Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar saw a great deal of success with his morning trip returning him with 4 keeper flounder, and reporting an estimated 150 throwbacks. Upon returning from his afternoon trip Captain Bob reported an estimates 75 throwbacks and one keeper trigger fish. It was another beautiful day at the Ocean City Fishing Center, however the offshore forecast was not as pleasant but our Captain's braved the weather to put anglers on the fish! The "Game On" with Captain Willie Zimmerman take high hook for the day returning to the docks with 4 yellow fin tuna each weighing between 30- 50 pounds; the estimated stringer weight was 217 pounds. Throughout the day they also released an additional 20 yellow fin! Captain Mark Radcliffe on the "Fish Bonz" also had a fantastic day releasing approximately 12 yellow fin, a blue marlin which was estimated to be around 500 pounds and taking 3 yellow fin tuna and a nice dolphin on a ride. The tuna were of substantial size and varied in weight from 47 pounds to 51 pounds.  More tuna were released on the "Game Over" today, Captain Steve Pfeiffer did bring one yellow fin home that weighed 35 pounds, and 7 dolphin the heaviest weighing in at 25 pounds. captain Steve released a total of 7 yellow fin today. Captain Jason Norton on the "Ranger" came home with a fish box full of various sized dolphin.  Captain Jim on the "Bill$ 4 Bills" proudly flew a dolphin and a tuna flag this evening. Arriving home late was the "Samurai I" with Captain Jeremy Blunt who made sure he had fish when he came home. He returned to the docks with 3 yellow fin and some dolphin in the fish box. Captain Ron Taylor on the "Playtime" had some decent sized dolphin when he returned to the docks this afternoon, the dolphin ranged from 11 pounds to 14 pounds. For the first time in a long time we were able to speak with captain Monty Hawkins on the "Morning Star." Captain Monty reported "beautiful" sea bass fishing today nearly limiting out everyone on the boat with a couple keeper cod. Bay fishing proved that it does not lack excitement today! On the "Bay Bee" with Captain Bob Gowar his morning trip had plenty of throwbacks to stay occupied, his afternoon trip had an estimated 125 throwbacks and a definite 6 keeper flounder, the largest measuring 21 inches. The charter boat "Get Sum" Captained by Captain Nick Clemente had a day full of very large throwbacks!    Today at the fishing center a few of our boats braved the open ocean in search of fish. Captain Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" had a spectacular day releasing 2 white marlin and returning to the docks with a 50 pound yellow fin tuna. On the "Ranger" with Jason Norton there were 2 unlucky blue fin tuna today, one of which was approximately 92 pounds, the fish were caught in the Massey's canyon. Captain Rob Skillman on the "Moore Bills" continues to report white marlin releases with 2 today and a blue marlin release as well! The charter boat "Get Sum" had an outstanding day in the bay today, with 8 keeper flounder accompanied by 60 throwbacks. Another good day was had on the "Bay Bee" with Captain Bob Gowar who released about 185 throwbacks between his 2 trips. 

   Yesterday was a great day as well! We apologize for not having the report up right away but we were busy counting fish!  On the "Tail to Tale" Captain Joel Wadkins returned from the 20 fathom line with 1 decent sized blue fin tuna. Captain Wade Lober on the "Why Not" took 4 yellow fin tuna on a ride in the fish box. At the washington canyon Captain Jason Norton on the "Ranger" rounded up 1 substantial sized blue fin tuna and 2 gaffer dolphin.  Another fantastic day was had with Captain Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up"  who returned with 3 yellow fin tuna each averaging 50-60 pounds, 2 nice dolphin, and a marlin release. Captain Monty Hawkins on the "Morning Star" reports a few cod and lost of sea bass and even a dolphin on his inshore trip. The charter boat "Get Sum" Captained by Captain Nick Clemente had 3 keeper flounder and a great deal of throwbacks between his trips. The "Bay Bee" had a similar day with an estimated 60 throwbacks and 2 keeper trigger fish in the morning and 70 throwbacks a keeper flounder and a keeper trigger in the afternoon. Yet another good day of fishing was had by all.  Capt. Wade Lober on the "Why Not" fished in the Massey's and came home with a 82# Bluefin Tuna and a few Dolphin.  Capt. Butch Brooks aboard the "Jade II" had a spectacular day in the Poorman's releasing a 300# Blue Marlin, a White Marlin and coming in with 3 nice Yellowfin Tuna.  Capt. Steve Martin on the "Cah Ching" came in with 2 Yellowfins, 2 Dolphin and released a White Marlin.  Also, fishing in the Poorman's, the "Playmate" with Capt. Jeremy Shandrowski at the helm brought to the docks 4 Yellowfin Tuna and released 1 Blue Marlin.  Capt. Dale Lisi of the "Foolish Pleasures" came in with 7 nice Yellowfin Tuna caught also in the Poorman's.  Capt. Willie Zimmerman aboard the "Game On"  released 2 White Marlin, 3 Yellowfin and also caught a Dolphin.  Capt. Jeremy Blunt on the "Samurai I" released 9 undersized Yellowfin and 1 White Marlin.  Bay fishing is still keeping boaters busy catching Flounder.  Both the "Get Sum" and "Bay Bee" have been successful in each of their daily bay fishing trips.  

Today about 10 of our charter boats ventured into the unknown in search of fish and near all of them were successful. On the "Bill$ 4 Bills" Captain Mike Conner and his crew returned to the dock with 1 decent sized dolphin. Captain Mark Radcliffe on the "Fish Bonz" saw a great deal of success today with yellow-fin he returned to the dock with 6 substantial sized yellow fin in the box and reported a few other releases which were accompanied by a white marlin release. High hook for the day goes to Captain Jason Norton on the "Ranger" who returned from his day offshore with a total of 9 yellow fin tuna with a total stringer weight of 418 pounds and 2 dolphin. On the "Foolish Pleasures" Captain Dale returned with 2.5 yellow fin tuna and a 200 pound mako. During the fight on one of the tunas  a large mako decided to snack on the fish and the crew managed to catch the mako and the tuna that they were already fighting. On a private boat "Fugitive" Captained by Wayne Lauman the crew came in late last night with a 55 pound wahoo, two yellow fin weighing between 40-50 pounds and a good deal of dolphin as well as a white marlin release. In the bay fishing was great today. On the bay fishing headboat the"Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar reported 4 keeper flounder and approximately 100 throwbacks on his morning trip and his afternoon trip he had about 65 throwbacks and 3 keeper trigger fish.  The charter boat "Get Sum" with Captain Nick Clemente saw lots of success in the bay today on his morning trip he had 3 keeper flounder the largest measuring 21.5 inches which were accompanied by plenty of throwbacks the afternoon trip Captain Nick Reported ample throwbacks to keep everyone occupied. Finally on his evening trip he returned with 1 keeper rock fish, 1 keeper bluefish and reports a few throwback rock fish.  Right now fishing is HOT! There was an abundance of fish brought back to the Ocean City Fishing Center today which proved to be another "bad day to be a tuna."On the "Fish Bonz" with Captain Mark Radcliffe his crew managed to bring 8 yellow fin tuna back to the docks for a total stringer weight of 360 pounds. Captain Frank Pettolina on the "Last Call" had a great day with blue fin, he reported 3 releases and returned with one in the box. On the "Bill$ 4 Bills" Captain Mike Conner had a similar day releasing 2 blue fin and bringing one back to the scales. High hook for the day is awarded to the "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman. Captain Rob returned to the docks with 9 yellow fin tuna all of substantial size, 7 dolphin, and reported releasing 2 whites.  Not far behind the "Moore Bills" the "Foolish Pleasures" with Captain Dale Lisi returned with 7 yellow fin all of which were decent size, and 1 gaffer dolphin.  A little closer to shore Captain Mark Sampson returned to the docks with happy customers who reported releasing 4 dusky sharks ranging from 40-45 inches in length through out the day. Bay fishing is still proving to be a great source of fun and some keeper flounder. On the charter boat "Get Sum" Captain Nick Clemente took his morning trip and put them on the fish. They had 1 keeper flounder at 19 inches, a 1/2 a bushel of crabs, and also reported  enough throwbacks to keep them busy. His afternoon trip met similar luck with the throwbacks and managed to dig up bunches of clams for dinner. Captain Bob Gowar on our bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" saw success with 2 keeper flounder and approximately 60 throwbacks on his morning trip. On the afternoon trip he had 53 throwbacks and caught 2 rays which were released. The past two days have been full of great fishing! Today on Captain Chad Meeks on the "All In" took a make up charter out and returned tot he docks with 1 blue fin tuna and 3 wahoo, he also reports releasing an additional 8 yellow fin. Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" had a day full of sharks yesterday releasing hammerheads, spinners, and even a few flounder! On our private boat the "Fugitive" he killed 7 yellow fin tuna and a 3 dolphin the heaviest weighing 30 pounds. Bay fishing is still good. On the "Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar has had over 100 throwbacks in the past 2 days and 4 keepers. Capt. Willie Zimmerman on the "Game On" came in with 3 nice size Yellowfin Tuna and released a White Marlin.  Capt. Dale Lisi on the "Foolish Pleasures" had his fill of Dolphin with an impressive 35 brought to the dock.  Capt. Mark Radcliffe aboard the "Fish Bonz" fished another half day trip and came in with 1 Bluefin Tuna weighing in at 40#s.  They also released many more Bluefins.  Capt. Ed Kaufman on the "Jade II" fished an overnighter and came back with a Wahoo, 6 Dolphin, 5 Yellowfin.  They also caught a Spear fish and released 3 Hammerhead Sharks and 1 Blue Shark.  Capt. Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" caught 1 Bluefin Tuna, Dolphin and Bonita while fly fishing.  They also released a Spinner Shark and Sting Ray.  The "Get Sum" with Capt. Nick Clemente released many undersized Flounder on their morning trip in the bay.  Capt. Mike Walsh on the "Bay Bee" caught 2 keeper Flounder and released 85 undersized Flounder on their 2 trips in the bay.

Today was a wonderful Saturday at the Ocean City Fishing Center; nearly all of our fleet left the docks this morning in search of fish. On a half day inshore trip Captain Mark Radcliffe on the "Fish Bonz" had  success at the Jackspot releasing a few blue fin tuna and taking one for a ride back to the fish cleaner. The fish measured 37.5 inches.  On the "Playtime" with Captain Ron Taylor customers were satisfied with 1 decent sized blue fin tuna, a yellow fin and a dolphin, the stringer for all three fish was 120 pounds.  Captain Ed Kauffman on the "Jade II" had 3 yellow fin tuna, and 1 large blue marlin that they released, only to fuel up and leave the docks again for an overnighter! Captain Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" ventured to the Jackspot on a half day trip and returned home with a blue fin in the box accompanied by 2 gaffer dolphin, he also reported releasing 3 other blue fin tuna. The "Why Not" with Captain Wade Lober visited the Baltimore canyon today and returned home with 6 yellow fin tuna.  Captain Chad Meeks ran his boat, the "All In", to the Poor Mans canyon and released 20 yellow fin, and returned home with 8 in the box. While at the Poor Mans, the "All In" also released a white marlin. The "Bill$ 4 Bills"  had similar results today, their crew released approximately 20 yellow fin and returned with 5, the heaviest one weighing in at 45 pounds. High hook goes to Captain Willie Zimmerman on the "Game On" who released 32 yellow fin and a white marlin, came in with 7 yellow fin and a gaffer dolphin. Captain Steve Pfeiffer on the "Game Over" released 2 yellow fin brought 5 to the dock all while fishing in the Baltimore canyon. On the "Last Call" with Captain Frank Pettolina were 7 unlucky yellow fin tuna when he arrived back at the docks this evening. The biggest dolphin was caught on the "Ranger" today with Captain Jason Norton. The dolphin was accompanied by 4 others of similar size and 4 yellow fin tuna. Captain Dale Lisi on the "Foolish Pleasures" had 3 substantial sized dolphin today along with a white marlin release. Captain Mark Sampson on the “Fish Finder” released 2 sandbar sharks. With all these tuna in the water Captain Monty Hawkins on the "Morning Star" even saw some today. He released 3 blue fin and had one in the bucket which was accompanied by black sea bass, some cod, and flounder. Bay fishing is also great right now! Aboard the head boat, "Bay Bee" with Captain Bob Gowar fun was had by all even though no keepers were caught, he did however report large numbers of throwbacks. Tuna is what is on the menu at the Ocean City Fishing Center after today’s catch report. On the “Game On” with Captain Willie Zimmerman who caught 30 yellow fin tuna and returned to the docks with 12 and 4 decent gaffer sized dolphin.  Captain Mark Radcliffe on the “Fish Bonz” caught a total of 22 blue fin tuna today however he only brought back one measuring 45 inches. On the “Last Call” with Captain Frank Pettolina, he had an outrigger full of flags today; a majority of them were tuna, eight to be exact however he did have some dolphin in the mix. Three blue fin tuna and a dolphin were caught on the “Why Not” with Captain Wade Lober.  Fun was had by all on the “Bill$ 4 Bills” with Captain Mike Conner who led his crew to 3 yellow fin tuna and a nice sized gaffer dolphin. The boys on the “Playmate” with Captain Jeremy Shandrowski also had a good sized gaffer dolphin weighing 13.5 pounds which was accompanied by 3 yellow fin tuna which weighed 34 pounds, 44 pounds, and 45 pounds.  The tuna bite was so fantastic today that Captain Monty Hawkins on the “Morning Star” took a break from his usual wreak and reef fishing to catch a blue fin tuna, along with black sea bass, some red hake, and flounder. Bay fishing has also been holding steady. Captain Bob Gowar on the head boat the “Bay Bee” reported over 120 throwbacks between two trips today! Today was another great day at the Ocean City Fishing Center. On the "Playtime" with Captain Ron Taylor took the first Make-up charter of the season. They released 4 blue fin tuna and returned to the docks with one weighing 42 pounds, which was accompanied by 2 good sized dolphin weighing between 10 and 12 pounds.  Captain Chad Meeks aboard the "Playmate" returned to the docks with a good deal of tuna. The total count was 14 yellow fin tuna with a total stringer weight of 496 pounds. A similar day was had on the "Game On" with Captain Willie Zimmerman who released two yellow fin tuna and killed 13 yellow fin for a total stringer weight well over 500 pounds. The fearless crew on the "Foolish Pleasures” took a two day trip offshore and managed to limit out on yellow fin.  With the shark tournament complete Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" was back at it catching and releasing sharks.  Today, his big catch was a 640 pound mako shark which has placed him at the top of the leader board. Congratulations Captain Mark Sampson! Bay fishing is also remaining a constant source of fun and fish! Captain Nick Clemente on the charter boat "Get Sum" reports 1 keeper rockfish, 1 keeper flounder and an immense amount of throwbacks throughout the day. With Captain Bob Gowar on the head boat, "Bay Bee", 2 keepers and 70 throwbacks were caught between two trips today. Yesterday the "Bay Bee" had 4 keepers and 78 throwbacks. Today was a great day for bay fishing! Captain Bob Gowar on the bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" had 1 keeper and 25 throwbacks on his first trip. On his afternoon trip he reported a multitude of throwbacks. On the charter boat "Get Sum" with Captain Nick Clemente throwbacks were abundant as were smiles. On his 2 hour evening trip they caught 2 keeper rockfish, one which as made our leader board at 11 pounds. Inshore fishing was exciting today as well, especially on the "Morning Star" with Captain Monty Hawkins. Captain Monty managed to catch himself another blue fin tuna which was accompanied by sea bass, cod, and some red hake. With rough waters and high winds offshore fishing was difficult today but some made and effort and returned with good stories and shark releases! Early this morning the slips at the fishing center were empty as many boats left at the crack of dawn to begin a day of offshore fishing. Today was the first day of the Ocean City Shark Tournament held here at the Ocean City Fishing Center. Our weigh station today saw no shortage of fish. On the "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman was high hook of the marina today. They returned to the docks with 24 yellow fin tuna all of substantial size. Next was Captain Dale Lisi on the "Foolish Pleasures" who arrived late last night with 12 yellow fin tuna, today was an even better trip. Captain Dale rose 16 tuna flags this afternoon. The tuna averaged about 40- 50 pounds. Captain Chad Meeks earned some points towards his release category by releasing a large dusky which he estimated to be around 80 pounds.  The "Samurai I" with Captain Jeremy Blunt had a fantastic day today. He released a big tiger shark which was estimated at 500 pounds which was accompanied by 2 dusky releases. But his best catch of the day was a 25 pound dolphin which earned he and his crew the first place spot in the dolphin division of the OC Shark Tournament. Aboard the "Morning Star" with Captain Monty Hawkins sea bass were plentiful as were the cod. He also returned with some red hake. But the big buzz today around the "Morning Star" was his tuna catch. Captain Monty returned to the docks with a blue fin tuna measuring 32" and he released 2 others in addition to tagging them!  Bay fishing is still a source of good fishing right now as well. Captain Bob Gowar on our bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" took a trip out this morning and returned with 3 keeper sized flounder and reported 70 or so throwbacks. On the private bay charter "Get Sum" Captain Nick Clemente returned with similar results. On his morning excursion he returned with 3 keepers and reported a multitude of throwbacks; his afternoon trip provided 2 keepers, an afternoon of fun with throwbacks and some clams to take home for dinner! Tonight the docks are buzzing with information about the Ocean City Shark Tournament which begins tomorrow. With all this buzz about sharks some of our fisherman decided to go out and try their hand at marlin and tuna fishing instead. Captain Wayne Lauman on the "Fugitive" one of our private boats returned to the docks after a very successful day fishing. He released 2 white marlin, and caught 3 substantial sized yellow fin which were also accompanied by 11 dolphin.  On the "Foolish Pleasures" Captain Dale Lisi had yet to return to the docks before the report went to print his report will be up tomorrow. Inshore fishing is "off the hook" from the mouth of Captain Monty Hawkins on the "Morning Star." He returned yesterday from a special 18 hour trip and reported the best cod fishing he has ever seen, in the mix were some flounder, sea bass and red hake. Bay fishing is also remain a constant source of fun for all ages. Aboard the head boat the "Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar had 5 keeper flounder and 90 throwback on his morning trip yesterday and on his afternoon had 4 keepers and about 40 throwbacks. He also went fishing today. Today's trips were full of throwbacks and satisfied customers! The morning trip threw back around 100 undersized flounder and the afternoon did about 37.  On the "Get Sum" a private bay character with Captain Nick Clemente who reported enough throwback flounder to keep people busy, and a 23 inch rockfish. Well, it wasn't a very favorable day for the Yellow fin Tuna.  Capt. Rob Skillman aboard the "Moore Bills" returned to day from an overnight trip to the Wilmington with 24 nice Yellowfin tuna, 1 large Dolphin and released 3 White Marlin.  Also, fishing in the bountiful Wilmington Canyon was the "Samurai I" with Capt. Jeremy Blunt at the helm.  They arrived back to the dock with 14 Yellowfin tuna and 1 Dolphin (29#s).  Their father and son team, David & Colby McDaniel were thrilled with their trip.  Also, out fishing today in the bay was Capt. Mike Walsh on the "Bay Bee" who released 30 throwback Flounder.  Capt. Nick Clemente also fish the bay and caught 1 keeper Flounder, a bushel and a half of blue crabs and released many smaller Flounder.  If you need to fill your freezer up for this upcoming winter book a trip today because we haven't seen a Yellowfin Tuna bite like this in awhile.  For charter information and reservations call (800) 322-3065.  

 

Today bay fishing improved immensely from yesterday, which was hard to believe! Captain Nick Clemente on the bay charter boat the "Get Sum" had 7 keepers and 33 throwbacks on his morning trip. On the head boat the "Bay Bee"  Captain Mikey Walsh  was on the fish as well. He returned to the docks with 12 keeper flounder and reported 83 throwbacks, his afternoon trip was cut short due to a storm however he still managed to catch fish in the time he was provided by mother nature. He returned from his trip with 31 throwbacks. Offshore fishing is still hot! On the "Tighten Up" with Captain Jason Genthner a total of 6 yellow fin tuna were brought back to the docks. This coming weekend is the 31st annual Ocean City Shark Tournament held here at the fishing center. Weigh ins are a great time for all ages and can be quite exciting. Even though the entire Ocean City Fishing Center fleet did not leave the docks today, there was no shortage of fish. First to arrive back at the docks was the "Wave Dancer" with Captain Gary Sappington. During their trip today they managed to get a young boy his first mako shark ever. The shark was brought back to the docks to be weighed and was a total of 112 pounds. Following the shark trend Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" reported the day of the hammerheads. He released a total of 6 hammerheads and 2 sandbar sharks by the end of the day. A majority of the other boats ran into the tuna and marlin today while offshore. The "Tighten Up" with Captain Jason Genthner saw a total of 6 yellow fin tuna and had a white marlin release. Captain Ed Kaufman on the "Jade II" also returned with similar results. He had a total of 6 substantial sized bluefish and 1 blue fin tuna measuring a total of 39 inches. On his inaugural trip of his Ocean City fishing season Captain Mark Radcliffe on the "Fish Bonz" also returned with satisfied customers, who reported catching 3 large yellow fin tuna and releasing a white marlin. One of our private boats the "Out- Rea- Geous" had a bittersweet day. The men had an exciting 2 hour and 15 minute fight with a large blue marlin. Unfortunately the 450 pound marlin became tail wrapped and did not survive the battle, however its death was not in vain, the fish was brought back to the docks, weighed and then the meat was donated to a local shelter. Also, having a stellar day offshore was Captain Jeremy Blunt running the private boat "Lady J".  They came back to the dock with 4 Yellow fin Tuna and 1 White Marlin release and saw a Blue Marlin that hit their Black Bart lure a few times but just wouldn't take a bite.  Inshore fishing also remains a constant source of fun for anglers. Captain Monty Hawkins on the head boat the "Morning Star" reports that fishing has been fantastic and had a full boat today. Needless to say both of his gut barrels were full. Bay fishing has suddenly improved ten fold! Today Captain Bob Gowar on the bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" had 11 keeper flounder and 91 throwback flounder on his morning trip, and on his afternoon trip he had 54 throwbacks. Our bay charter boat the "Get Sum" captained by Nick Clemente had a fantastic day. On his morning excursion he went crabbing, clamming, and fishing and all proved to be successful. There was a total of 3 keeper flounder caught on the boat which were accompanied by several throwbacks, a bushel of crabs, and some clams. His two hour evening customers returned to the docks very ecstatic with the amount of fun they had catching fish, while all of the fish they caught were throwbacks they still had a fantastic time! Captain Jason Genthner has been on a roll. Today on the "Tighten Up" the captain led his crew to a great catch today on a half day inshore trip. By 10:30AM he was back at the docks with a 418 pound thresher shark. They currently hold the leaderboard position for the thresher shark. Awesome job guys! Check back tomorrow for pictures. Following the monster shark captains continued to bring in large quantities of tuna. Today on the "Bill$ 4 Bills" Captain Mike Conner managed to catch 11 yellow fin tuna which were accompanied by 3 dolphin one of which was a substantial sized bull (male). On the "Jade II" with Captain Ed Kaufman the yellow fin tuna averaged about 40 pounds each and there were a total of six that were caught today. Sharks are always popular and Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" caught a variety of sharks today such as a hammerhead, a sandbar and 3 dusky sharks. Our inshore headboat the "Morning Star" with Captain Monty Hawkins also had a successful day today loading the fish boxes with black sea bass, and flounder. The bay fishing headboat the "Bay Bee" with Captain Bob Gowar have been consistently catching throwback flounder with a few keepers in the mix.  Overall fishing is fantastic right now and continues to get better. After a fantastic weekend for our fleet at the Mako Mania, our charter boats continue on with business as usual. Today Captain Frank Pettolina on the "Last Call" took a break from shark fishing, targeting tuna and had a great deal of success. He reports releasing 20 blue fin tuna in addition to keeping 1 and a yellow fin.  On the "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman also released blue fin, but came to the dock with a  41 inch blue fin, a yellow fin and 3 decent sized dolphin.  Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" released a variety of sharks today on his full day trip. He released a hammerhead, a mako, a spinner, and 3 dusky sharks. Offshore fishing is great right now! On one of our private boats the tuna hit the docks in great numbers. The captain and crew managed to bring in 9 yellow fin tuna and reported having 13 by 9:30 this morning, they obviously released those that did not make the cut.  Inshore fishing is also proving to be very successful. Captain Monty Hawkins on the "Morning Star" reported an "excellent day of fishing" today and stated that "every angler could have easily limited out." Target fish are black sea bass, tautog, and at the moment cod, due to the fact that Captain Monty is tagging cod! Finally the "Bay Bee" captained by Bob Gowar had a trip today and returned with satisfied customers all who reported catching some throwback flounders. In just 2 weeks the Ocean City Shark Tournament will be held at the Ocean City Fishing Center, June 16 - 18, weigh ins are guaranteed to be exciting and educational! It was a profitable Mako Mania tournament for boats from the OCFC fleet.  Capt. Franky Pettolina of the "Last Call" fished on a friend's boat, "Blackjack" who came in first in the tournamnet, but they were not across the board in money winnings.  The "Blackjack" took home $12,854.00.  Capt. Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" came in second, but won the majority of the money with a pot totaling $31,545.00.  Capt. Rob Skillman aboard the "Moore Bills" took 3rd place and some of the 2nd place money totaling $9,773.00.  Also, winning money in the 4th place position was Capt. Willie Zimmerman running the "Game On".  They also received most of the 3rd place money totaling $3,252.00.  Since no Thresher was caught, that money was split between the winners which is a sore subject for one of our private boats, "Waynes World" who fought a HUGE Thresher for five and a half hours only to lose it at the boat.  They estimated just the body alone to be around 18' long.  Better luck in a few weeks "Wayne's World".

Today was yet another eventful evening at the Ocean City Fishing Center. Captain Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" took another trip to the scales at the Mako Mania, the 1st shark they weighed landed them in second place. The mako they took the scales today weighed in around 140 pounds. We hope that they hold on to the second place spot. Good Luck guys! On the "Playtime" with Captain Ron Taylor reported releasing a few dusky sharks, and a decent sized tiger shark. Sharks were also the target fish of the day on the "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman who released a variety of sharks to go toward his release points in the tournament. He managed to release 1 mako, 1 dusky and 1 tiger and is currently in 3rd place in the Mako Mania.  Finally Captain Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" while staying inshore released sharks as well. He released 2 sandbars, and some duskys today. While sharks have been the popular catch this past week, it is not the only thing swimming around in our waters. Captain Mike Conner on the "Bill$ 4 Bills" came to the docks today with 3 yellow fin tuna. On a trip up from the south Captain Dale Lisi fished his way home. He arrived safe at OCFC with plenty of fish to show for the trip. The catch consisted of a 74 pound swordfish, a mako shark, a yellow fin tuna, and a dolphin. Inshore fishing with Captain Monty Hawkins has been holding steady. He reports that they had a substantial amount of black sea bass today as well as cod. On the bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" Captain Mikey Walsh reports decent flounder fishing. It was a good day at the Mako Mania Tournament for the charter boats of OCFC.  Currently, Capt. Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" is in 1st place with a 169 pound Mako.  Capt. Rob Skillman on the "Moore Bills" is in 2nd place with a 168 pound Mako.  We have many boats scheduled to fish on Saturday, so we will see what happens tomorrow evening. 

Day two of the Mako Mania kept the fisherman hunting for sharks. On the "Game On" with Captain Willie Zimmerman the crew took a trip to the scales today to weigh in a mako shark. The mako weighed 158 pounds and managed to get them into the 3rd place spot for a bit, the shark was accompanied by another mako release today. Captain Jeremy Shandrowski on the "Playmate" released 2 mako sharks, 2 hammerheads, a tiger shark, 3 dusky, and a sandbar, they also killed a 175 pound mako! Way to go guys! Another boat that ventured offshore today was the "Cah Ching" with Captain Steve Martin, when he returned to the docks he had a cart full of tuna. They had a total of 4 yellow fin tuna and 1 blue fin tuna measuring 40 inches the tuna were also accompanied by a few decent size dolphin. Our private boats also took advantage of the great fishing on this beautiful day. The "Wayne's World" led by Captain Darin Roe caught a mako today. Captain Jeremy Blunt who usually runs the charter boat, "Samurai", ran the "Lady J" today and returned to the docks from the Hambone with a substantial size blue fin tuna measuring 30 inches and 12 bluefish which will make good shark bait. Finally another private boat the "Wrangler" bravely took an overnight trip to the tip of the Wilmington and returned late this afternoon with 12 yellow fin. Bay fishing has improved since the beginning of the week and keeps getting better. On our bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar led two full trips to great success. During his morning trip he had 9 keeper flounder and 72 throwbacks, the afternoon followed in suit with 7 keepers and 64 throwbacks. The "Get Sum", our bay charter boat, with Captain Nick Clemente had 1 keeper flounder and several throwback rock fish on his sunset cruise. Overall the fishing has been great this week, don't miss your opportunity to catch the big one. Capt. Willie Zimmerman on the "Game On" came in with a nice mako Shark and released a Blue Shark.  Capt. Rob Skillman on the "Moore Bills" came in with 2 Yellowfin Tuna and caught a few Bluefish.  Capt. Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finer came in with a 142 pound Mako Shark.  Capt. Bob on the "Bay Bee" caught 4 keeper Flounder and released 38 throwbacks on his AM trip. 

As the month of June arrives the water gets warmer and the fish begin to hit the docks in large numbers. On the "Moore Bills" with Capitan Rob Skillman he returned to the docks after a day of great success offshore fishing. His bounty included a total of 11 yellow fin tuna of substantial size. The total stringer weight of the tuna was 345 pounds.  Inshore Capitan Monty Hawkins on the head boat the "Morning Star" managed to have a 9 fish per angler average with the high angler have a total of 18 catches today. The mate reported lots of black sea bass, and a good amount of cod. Yesterday the report was not printed however, Capitan Monty saw high numbers of black sea bass and about 17 cod. Finally bay fishing is heating up with the weather. On our bay head boat the "Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar led his crew to 3 keeper flounder today with the largest measuring 23 inches, the keepers were accompanied by 18 throwback flounder. Yesterday Captain Bob had 1 keeper and a multitude of throwbacks. On the "Get Sum" a private bay charter Captain Nick Clemente had satisfied customers who reported releasing "big fish" and having quite a few keepers. A large mako shark was brought to the Ocean City Fishing Center today to be weighed by a private boat owner, the shark weighed an incredible 280 pounds the crew reported also catching an abundance of tuna as well.Overall fishing is great, and now is the chance to catch the big one, don't miss your opportunity trips are available. As May comes to an end the captains at the fishing center would not let it go out without a bang. There was an abundance of fish that hit the docks today at the Ocean City Fishing Center. First to come in today was Captain Ron Taylor on the "Playtime" he had a 34 inch blue fin tuna today and released an additional 10.  One of the new additions to our charter fleet the "Cah Ching" with Captain Steve Martin also released a blue fin tuna today measuring 35 inches in length. Captain Mark Hoos Jr. as a substitute on the "Game On" had a cart or so full of fish today. To start he had 6 yellow fin the heaviest weighing in around 56 pounds, and about 7 false albacore, they also reported releasing 2 blue fin tuna today as well.  To add to the tuna count today Captain Jason Genthner on the "Tighten Up" released 5 yellow fin tuna, and killed a 32 inch blue fin tuna as well. Another new addition to the Fishing Center fleet the "Wave Dancer" with Captain Jeremy Blunt at the helm slayed 9 yellow fin tuna, a blue fin tuna measuring in at 37 inches and also managed to catch some shark bait for future trips in the form of 5 skipjacks. Sharking is still hot as well right now. Capitan Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" slayed a 182 pound mako today, which were accompanied by a multitude of other shark releases. Inshore fishing is also holding steady. On our inshore wreak and reef head boat the "Morning Star", Captain Monty Hawkins has his fair share of fish today from black sea bass, to tau tog, to flounder! Bay fishing is another great trip to take especially for the younger crowd. Captain Bob Gowar on the "Bay Bee" our bay fishing head boat took one trip today and managed to get 1 keeper flounder which was accompanied by a plethora of other throwback species of fish. On the "Get Sum" with Captain Nick Clemente his morning trip killed 1 nice sized keeper flounder and had a good time with the amount of throwback flounder they were catching. It was a very busy weekend.  Fishing is RED HOT right now.  Lots of Tuna were brought to the dock and the 1st White Marlin of the season has been caught.  Capt. Jeremy Shandrowski on the "Playmate" came in with 1 Bluefin Tuna and 6 Yellowfin Tuna.  They also released 40 additional Tuna.  The "Jade II" with Capt. Ed Kaufman came in with 1 Bluefin Tuna and 7 Yellowfin Tuna.  The "Moore Bills" with Capt. Rob Skillman came in with a Bluefin Tuna.  Capt. Chad Meeks aboard the "All In" came in with a 147 pound Mako Shark and 24 Bluefish.  The "Playtime" run by Capt. Ron Taylor released two Blue Sharks, 2 Mako Sharks and a Dusky Shark.  They also caught Bluefish.    Capt. Nick Clemente on the "Get Sum" ran two Rockfish trips this weekend and caught 5 keepers on his Saturday night trip and 4 keepers from tonight's trip.  They also released over 20 additional Rockfish.  Capt. It was another beautiful day today and fishing followed in suit. First on our bay fishing head boat the "Bay Bee" Captain Bob Gowar reports a total of 63 throwback flounder, 2 keepers one measuring 22 inches and the other at 18 inches and one keeper tau tog for the day. The keepers were caught around the inlet on a drift. Captain Nick Clemente on the "Get Sum" had similar results with rock fish. On his afternoon trip Captain Nick released 20 rock fish and brought back a bushel of crabs. On his evening trip he slayed a total of  rock fish and had a few throwbacks. The rock fish measures at 32 inches, 34 inches, and 35 inches. Headed further east into the ocean Captain Monty Hawkins on the "Morning Star" met great success today as well. One of his mates reported that each angler had on average about 20 fish for the day, some even limited out. The types of fish caught were black sea bass, tau tog, and some flounder. On the "Fish Finder" with Captain Mark Sampson he led his customers to the sharks once again. During today's trip a total of 5 sandbar sharks were released. To conclude our exciting day of fishing an angler from the bridge brought his substantial size flounder to the fishing center to be measured. The fish measured a total length of 25 inches and was caught on a gotcha plug, yes a gotcha plug. Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" came in with a nice Mako shark weighing in at 130 pounds.  The "Bay Bee" is still having success at catching Flounder in the bay on their 2 half day trips.  Capt. Offshore fishing is beginning to pick up as the boats have returned from their journey South and final preparations for the 2011 season comes to an end. The "Moore Bills" with Captain Rob Skillman caught a few Dolphin on their offshore trip.  Inshore fishing has been hot! Today the "Bill$ 4 Bill$" with Captain Mike Conner went and met success returning to the docks with 10 black sea bass. Inshore fishing has been so good that the "Fish Finder" with Captain Mark Sampson fished for "other" species he released 5 sandbars, 1 blue shark, and killed 5 bluefish.  The headboat the "Morning Star" with Captain Monty Hawkins has had a very successful two days. Today he nearly limited out on black sea bass, which were accompanied by decent sized flounder and tautog. Yesterday Monty had an excellent day exhibited by his gut bucket.  Bay fishing has also proved its worth this week. Captain Bob Gowar on our bay fishing headboat the "Bay Bee" had a lot of luck on his morning trip today. He had 10 throwback flounder, killed 1 bluefish in a slew of throwbacks, he also encountered 1 cownose ray, a skate, and a sand shark! On the "Get Sum" a private bay charter Captain Nick Clemente had about 12 throwback flounder, plenty of bluefish, and 1/2 a bushel of crabs. Capt. Bob and the anglers aboard the "Bay Bee" caught 4 keeper Flounder and threwback 26 on their AM trip.  They caught 2 keepers and 18 throwbacks during their PM trip.

 

One of our private slip holders, the "Wrangler", went on another overnight trip and returned with a Bluefin tuna.  The also released a few others.

One of our private slip holders, the "Wrangler", went on an overnighter and returned with the first Mako Shark and Bluefin Tuna of the season.  The Mako weighed in at 134 pounds.  They also released a 75" Bluefin as well as two more Bluefins.  See the photo on our gallery page.

 

Both the "Bay Bee" and the "Get Sum" have been catching keeper Flounder, but also many throw backs. 

The "Bay Bee" is currently running Thursday - Sunday, 8AM - Noon and 1PM - 5PM.  THe cost $30/adult, $20/kids 12 and under and $5/rod rental.  They have fished the past few weekend and have caught a few keepers, but still mostly throw backs.  The water in the bay is slowly warming up so we expect the fishing to get better soon.  Call (410) 213-1121 for reservations.

    Today the "Playmate" was pleased to report one yellowfin tuna and two bluefins. The only other activity to report is from The "Bay Bee" and the "Get Sum" as they scoured the Bay for flounder. Capt. Nick says they were a little disappointed to only catch eleven throwback flounder. And Capt. Bob reports a total of fifteen throwback flounder on the "Bay Bee". BILL$ FOR BILLS had quite the variety with 1 good sized wahoo, 1 tuna, 1 white marlin release, and 1 dolphin. The PLAYMATE had a sucessful day bringing in a dozen dolphin and releasing 3 whites. The FISH BONZ wrangled in one large yellowfin tuna and released 3 whites. The JADE II had 3 whites and a beautiful sailfish. The GAME OVER caught 12 dolphin and 1 white marlin release. Today at the fishing center plenty of boats went out and plenty of fish returned. The FOOLISH PLEASURES released 23 White Marlin, came in with 3 Yellowfin Tuna and 3 Dolphin and one 71 pound White Marlin.  The SKIRT CHASER went out for an overnighter yesterday and returned with a boat full of fish. To start it off the SKIRT CHASER released a white marlin and wrangled in 6 tuna and 3 dolphin. The PLAYMATE and the MOORE BILLS had  4 white marlin flags as they entered the cut of the marina, and the LAST CALL and the MUGGER flew 2 white marlin flags each. The GAME OVER had a great day with their dolphin bite, coming in with 8 mahi mahi. The FISH BONZ joined the fishing center with 3 white marlin of their own released, and the TIGHTEN UP had a white marlin release of their own. The ALL IN had 6 whites hitting at once! Today only a few of our charter boats went out, but a variety of fish were caught. The SAMURAI, the largest boat at the Fishing Center, brought in 3 good sized mahi mahi and a very pleased charter. The GAMEOVER scored with a 54lb yellowfin tuna and 3 gaffer dolphin to top off their good day. The TALE TO TAIL reeled in a couple false albacore, a yellowfin tuna, and a few gaffer dolphin. The FISH FINDER had a very pleasing day with plenty of croaker and some small shark.  The first day of Poor Girls Open was quite a slow and rainy day at the Fishing Center with most boats not getting any action. The TIGHTEN UP did catch 1 yellowfin tuna and a gaffer dolphin. With 2 to 5 foot seas the dolphin bite was hitting hard today. The FOOLISH PLEASURES came in with a grand total of 37 dolphin and the ALL IN also snagged 10 dolphin. Two of our private boats, the BROKEN OAR and the ELLEN M, had much success today. The ELLEN M killed 4 dolphin and the BROKEN OAR caught a 41 pound wahoo. The SAMURAI brought in a 61 lb yellow fin tuna and released 1 white marlin. The FISH BONZ released 2 white marlin as well. The GET SUM came to the docks with plenty of clams, crabs, and a happy charter today. Last but not least the FISH FINDER released 10 spinner shark and 1 good sized cobia.           The fleet of the Fishing Center had another good day today. The "Jade II" caught a nice 22 lb. bull dolphin and 18 additional dolphin. The "Playmate" got 6 dolphin and had tuna bites on and off all day. Come on, tuna ! "Last Call" had 14 dolphin of its own and released one white marlin. "Moore Bills" released a white and "All In" caught 4 dolphin as well as releasing a white. The crew on the "Tail To Tale" had a gaffer dolphin and the "Foolish Pleasures" brought a dock cart full of 50 small dolphin to  Stan the fish cutter.

 

Today at the Ocean City Fishing center only a few boats braved the wind in  hopes of catching big fish. Captain Ed Kauffmen on the "Jade II" killed 3 yellowfin tuna today of good size about 70 pounds. "Fish Bonz" with Captain Mark Radcliffe caught 6 yellowfin ranging from 20 to 70 pounds. The big success of the day was the "Get Sum" with Captain Nick Clemente had 7 keeper flounder the largest one measuring 25 inches at 5 pounds and 6 ounces. Over the weekend two of our charter boats the "Playmate" and the "Moore Bills" fished in a tournament in New Jersey and did really well. The "Playmate" with Captain Willie Zimmerman released 7 Blue Sharks over the weekend. Today our headboat the "Bay Bee" with Captain Mikey Walsh had 54 throwback flounder and 3 keepers. Among other excitement today one of our dockhands Hunter caught a 28 inch flounder that weighed in at 9.11 pounds. The fishing is hot and so is the weather! Yesterday our charter boats left the marina to complete the third and final day of the Mako Mania. We would first like to congratulate Captain Willie Zimmerman on his success yesterday and his win in the Mako Maina release division. Also we would like to congratulate Captain Chad Meeks who took second place in the Bluefish division in the Mako Mania. While fishing the tournament the "Playmate" with Captain Willie Zimmerman released a total of twelve Makos and brought one to the scales that weighed in at 163 pounds. Captain Rob Skillman on the "Moore Bills" also fished the tournament and brought a 141 pound Mako Shark to the docks. Over the weekend the "All In" with Captian Chad Meeks released over 30 Bluefish of substantial size, 3 Blue Sharks, and a Mako Shark estimated to be approximately 125 pounds. It was a great day to be out fishing.  And it was great to have boats out fishing after another week of bad weather. 

 

Once again, the high hook of the day went to the crew on the "Playmate" with Capt. Willie Zimmerman.  They came back with 6 Yellowfin Tuna, 2 Wahoo and a Dolphin.  Good job fellas!!! 

 

Also, catching fish today was Capt. Ed Kaufman on the "Jade II" with 3 Wahoo releases and coming back with a Yellowfin Tuna.  Capt. Steve Wheeler on the "Ranger" also came to the docks with a Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo and Dolphin.  Capt. Frank Pettolina aboard the "Last Call" brought in a Bluefin Tuna and Capt. Tom Pezza on the "Key Lime Pie" came in with a 45 pound Yellowfin Tuna.  Capt. Dan Cook on the "Fortune Cookie" released a White Marlin.  Capt. Mark Sampson ont eh "Fish Finder" released 12 Sandbar Sharks, 1 Sandtiger Shark and caught lots of small Seatrout and Croaker.

 

   

With the weather on our side today, many boats fished.  Capt. Willie Zimmerman on the "Playmate" came in with 6 Yellowfin Tuna, 10 Dolphin and two nice size Wahoo.  Capt. Luke Blume on the "Press Time" came in with 53 Dolphin that were all a good size.  They also came in with a fish we haven't seen in awhile, a Bluefin Tuna.  Capt. Mark Radcliffe aboard the "Fish Bonz" caught 30 Dolphin and also a Yellowfin Tuna.  Capt. Steve Wheeler on the "Ranger" came in with 1 Bluefin, a Dolphin and released a White Marlin and a Wahoo.  Capt. Anthony Thomas on the "Skirt Chaser" also came in with a Bluefin Tuna and 2 gaffer Dolphin.  Capt. Ron Taylor on the "Playtime" caught lots of Skippies.  Capt. Frank Pettolina aboard the "Last Call" released many small Yellowfin Tuna, Skippies, but also caught some Dolphin.  Capt. Dave Wentling on the "Instigator" came in with 1 Bluefin Tuna.  Capt. Mark Sampson on the "Fish Finder" released 9 Sandbar Sharks and some Bluefish and caught 4 keeper Seabass and Triggerfish.

Many boats left from the Ocean City Fishing Center today including the Morning Star, the Bay Bee, the Ursula Priscilla, the Last Call, the Fortune Cookie, the Jade II, the Press Time, the Playmate, the Fish Finder, the Ranger, and the Get Sum. The Bay Bee had a remarkable day with three Flounder keepers in the morning, 40 throw-back Flounders, and a few Croakers. In the afternoon, the Bay Bee caught 16 throw-back Flounders and a few Croakers again. The Playmate charter hooked one White Marlin (saw three) and five Dolphins. The Presstime had one White Marlin release. The Jade II caught three Dolphins and one Wahoo. The Fortune Cookie had two White Marlin releases and caught one Dolphin. The Fish Finder had one Atlantic Sharpnose and four Dusky Sharks.

The 22nd annual Tuna Tournament began today. We had a total of 120 boats entered into the tournament; 74 fished today and 46 remained at the docks. A total of 32 Bluefin Tuna were brought back to the docks here at the OCFC today. Charter boats from the marina that returned with nice size Bluefin Tuna included the Ursula Priscilla, the Playmate, the Instigator, the Jade II, the Fortune Cookie, the Reel Addiction, and the Bill$ 4 Bills. We also saw some nice size Gaffer Dolphin. There was also a white marlin release today off of the Jade 2. If you ever wanted to book an offshore charter now would be the time.

Today we had two boats go out from the Ocean City Fishing Center, the Playmate and the Bay Bee. In the morning, the Bay Bee had 42 flounder throw-backs and two keepers. One of these keepers was 18.5 inches while the other measured in as 19 inches. The Playmate also went out and caught two Dusky sharks (weighing 100 pounds) that were afterwards released. In addition, the Playmate also caught 10 sea bass. In the afternoon, the Bay Bee caught 22 throwback flounders. This week is the Ocean City Shark Tournament so stop by and watch the fun! Weigh-ins are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 3:30-7:00 P.M.

You can thank “Hanna” for this short report. Today the “Playmate” with Capt. Will Zimmerman was the only boat in the fleet to fish. They came in with a really nice Wahoo. As I’m sure you all know “Hanna” is working her way towards O.C. and we will not have any boats out until maybe Monday. We have buckled down the hatches her at the Ocean City Fishing Center and are ready for whatever she has to bring us.

Offshore fishing is picking up. Yesterday we only had two boats go out of the Fishing Center. The “Foolish Pleasures” with Captain Dale Lisi came back with six dolphin and had a white marlin release. The “Jade Two” with Captain Butch Brooks brought in a nice 112lb bluefin along with four yellowfin tuna and some dolphin. September and October are great months to fish.
